1126 Myers ROAD

Earlier in 2025 joined a build as an apprentice carpenter working under Master Carpenter Craig Robertson.

The home is designed to take advantage of renewable energy to limit environmental impact and minimize long-term operational costs.

I find parallels in the work of carpentry and design without working on

Creative Block And Carpentry

During a period of creative block, I joined a small crew of carpenters building a home for Craig Robertson Fine Carpentry in rural Vermont. It was a period where I was re-examining many facets of my creative identity and architecture and carpentry had always interested me so it felt like a natural fit while I reassesed life and identity.

Carpentry and Digital creative work certainly have a lot of things different but during my time on the project I couldnt help but be reminded of the similarities and some core tenets of good design and how they apply to the creative marketing industry.

Minimize Waste (To Keep Costs Down)

There’s an addage: Waste Not, Want Not I hear from time to time on the job site. Costs add up in unexpected ways:

Consider this:
The wrong materials get delivered, The Job is stalled, a replacement needs to get ordered, the carpenters are unable to complete their task, the foreman’s plans for the day need to be redrawn and the time and preparation to plan and move on to another project takes time and effort. The work comes to a stall and the crew is not working but still accruing work-time while new plans and arrangements are made.

Planning & Execution

“Point of Snow Return” highlights the growing need for caps and regulation on harmful carbon emissions that directly affect climate change. It goes on to point out how many of the past locations for the Winter Olympics are no longer viable as they do not produce enough snowfall to host the events.
